DaimlerChrysler Regional Office

Unit Chairperson: Bob Perry

Located at 6500 Mississauga Road the DaimlerChrysler Regional Office has 15 Unionized workers.

Our members support and supply information to dealers in the Ontario region.

We are in one seniority group, although working in Parts Distribution Chrysler leasing, vehicle sales and service.

 

DaimlerChrysler Brampton Assembly

This unit makes up the largest portion of your local. They presently build cars such as the Intrepid, 300M, LHS and Concorde.

 

DaimlerChrysler Brampton Assembly - Office Workers

This office unit consists of engineers, clerical and office workers. They assist the production workers in achieving their end product. These workers make up the largest office group of your local.

 

Chrysler National Parts Depot

This group of workers store and supply parts for Chrysler Canada.

 

Chrysler National Parts Depot - Office Workers

These office workers consist of Parts, Sales and Chrysler Leasing.

 

Team Industrial

Chairperson: John Toohey

This is a workplace that has proud members of the C.A.W. since 1993. We are located in the DaimlerChrysler Brampton Assembly plant and are responsible for Industrial cleaning, preventative maintenance and waste recovery mainly in the paint shop.

Since certification the management group has gone through many changes – from Caligo to Allwaste to Philip Services to now Team Industrial. The constant has been the workers.

The members enjoy a history of progressive work schedules with first a weekend worker program and now engage a four day standard work week with full benefits and wages of at least forty hours pay per week. The average physical hours worked is thirty two hours per week.

This dynamic and diverse workplace has an excellent collective agreement.

 

Haden Enviromental

These workers also work in the Assembly plant. They are responsible for the waste water and waste management.

 

Aramark Foods

This group of service sector workers are located within the Chrysler Assembly plant. They service two cafeterias at the Brampton facility.

 

TI Automotive Group

Bundy weld steel tubing 3/16, ¼, 7/8, 8mm, 10mm, small diameter tubes for automotive (Camry, Toyota) brake lines and gas lines, and have been in the Local for 33 years.

Dana - Long Manufacturing

This auto parts plant is located in Mississauga. They make coolers for such companies as G.M., Ford and Chrysler.

 

Unipart (formerlyJaguar)

Canada’s National Parts Depot. Only parts depot in Canada. (Train Technicians, import vehicles and accessories)

 

Crosby of Canada

This group of forge and foundry workers make rope fittings for such equipment as hoists.

 

SKD

Stamps out and assembly work for Chrysler, Ford and GM, etc.

 

Brampton Hydro

This group of public sector workers ensure the people who live in the Brampton are have electricity for their homes and streets.

 

Manac

This group builds trailers for the trucking industry.

 

Mopar (was National Parts Depot)

Unit Chairperson : Neil Smyth

The total facility houses not only the N.P.D.C., but also the Ontario Regional Office, a Service Training School, and the National Fleet and Lease Department, opened in 1972

Land area – 57 acres with a building area 805,000 square feet. (Room enough for 15 football fields).

Serves as the P.D.C. for Ontario Region Dealers and as the resupply source for our other P.D.C’s – 185 Deals and 5 P.D.C. locations. (Moncton, Montreal, Winnipeg, Red Deer and Vancouver).

109 N.P.D.C. employees work 3 shifts, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Approximately 94,000 part numbers stocked.

Over 76 million pounds of material received and stocked last year.

Over 3 million lines shipped to Dealers and P.D.C.’s in 1999.

Computer controlled Inventory Management System based in Detroit and Windsor. Interactive, virtually paperless, order entry and credit system for Dealers use.

All stocking and picking functions are computer controlled. Handheld computers are used to facilitate the process.

Equipment fleet includes 18 dock trucks, 24 reach trucks, 13 order pickers, 2 swing reaches, as well as an assortment of walkies, personnel carriers, and emergency and cleaning equipment.

26 angled indoor truck docks and an outdoor truck dock for receiving and shipping in a completely, column free area. Over 95% of Dealer materials is shipped via D.D.S. (Dedicated Delivery System).
